From One Middle-Class Household to Yours β Your Friend in Finance
Namaste. Sat Sri Akal. Salaam. Hello. π
Let me tell you a story you might find familiar.
There I was β a regular middle-class guy with a regular job, looking at bills piling up: school fees due, EMIs knocking, medical check-ups needed, and the ever-present question, “Will this salary last till the end of the month?”
I tried reading finance articles, but they were filled with terms I didn’t understand. I thought about hiring a financial advisor, but the fees felt like another bill I couldn’t afford. I felt stuck β working hard but always running behind, just trying to meet ends for my family.
That’s when I realized: If I’m struggling with this, imagine how many millions of other middle-class Indians are facing the exact same daily battle.
This blog isn’t started by a financial expert in a fancy suit. It’s started by someone like you β someone who knows what it means to calculate every rupee, to choose between a family outing and putting that money in the emergency fund, to lie awake at night wondering if you’re doing enough.
Our Truth: We’re Not Experts. We’re Experienced.
Let me be completely clear: I am not a SEBI-registered advisor. I don’t have fancy finance degrees. I haven’t worked in big investment banks.
What I do have is real-life experience in:
- Stretching a single salary to cover a family’s needs
- Figuring out taxes without a CA
- Learning about investments through trial and (costly) error
- Navigating hospital bills, education costs, and family emergencies
- The constant pressure of “planning for the future” while managing today
This blog is my notebook from that journey β everything I learned the hard way, now shared with you for free.
Why This Blog Exists: Our Simple Promise
I created this space for one reason: No middle-class person should have to pay hefty fees just to learn how to manage their own hard-earned money.
Think about it β we already pay so much in taxes, bills, and expenses. Why should basic financial education be another expensive service?
Our aim is simple:
To provide free, clear, and practical financial education that you can actually use in your daily life. No complex theories. No sales pitches. Just plain talk about money, in the context of our real Indian middle-class lives.
What Makes Us Different: We Speak Your Language
We Understand Your Reality:
- The importance of sending money to aging parents
- The pressure of saving for a child’s education while paying current school fees
- The juggle between saving for a home and managing rent
- The fear of medical emergencies without adequate insurance
- The confusion about “where to invest” when every option seems risky
We Talk Like Neighbors, Not Professors:
You won’t find “asset allocation” here β you’ll find “how to divide your salary.”
You won’t find “equity exposure” β you’ll find “should you invest in stocks?”
You won’t find “tax-efficient instruments” β you’ll find “how to save tax with your PF and insurance.”
We Admit What We Don’t Know:
When something is beyond my understanding, I’ll tell you: “This is complex, here are official resources, and here’s what I’m doing in my own situation.” Honesty over pretending to know everything.
Our Core Beliefs: The Middle-Class Money Manifesto
1. Financial Knowledge is a Basic Right β Not a Luxury
Every Indian deserves to understand money matters without paying for expensive courses or advisors first.
2. Small Steps Beat Big Plans
We focus on what you can do TODAY with what you have. βΉ500 saved consistently is better than a βΉ50,000 plan you never start.
3. Family Comes First β Always
Our financial decisions aren’t just about numbers. They’re about our parents’ dignity, our children’s future, our spouse’s security. We never forget this human side of money.
4. Learn from Our Mistakes So You Don’t Repeat Them
I’ve paid “stupid tax” β those costly financial mistakes we all make. I share these openly so you can avoid them.

What We’re NOT
- β We are NOT financial advisors β please consult a SEBI-registered advisor for personal advice
- β We do NOT give stock tips or “get rich quick” schemes
- β We do NOT sell any financial products
- β We are NOT a substitute for professional advice for complex situations
We ARE your first friend in finance β the one who helps you ask the right questions before you go to the professionals.
Join Our Family β Because We’re All in This Together
This isn’t my blog. It’s our community. A place where:
- A father from Jaipur can share how he saved for his daughter’s wedding
- A young professional from Chennai can ask about her first salary split
- A retired couple from Delhi can discuss pension management
- A mother from Mumbai can talk about managing household budgets
You can be part of this by:
- Reading and applying what makes sense for your situation
- Sharing your experiences in the comments β your story helps others
- Asking questions β if you’re confused about something, chances are 100 others are too
- Sharing articles with that relative or friend who needs this knowledge
A Personal Note From Me
I still live a middle-class life. I still budget carefully. I still worry about my family’s future. The only difference is now I have a slightly better map for this journey, and I want to share that map with you.
We’re not aiming for crores here. We’re aiming for peace of mind. For knowing that we’re doing our best with what we have. For sleeping well at night knowing our families are secure.
Thank you for letting me into your financial journey. I’m honored to walk this path alongside you.
With solidarity and hope,
The Middle-Class Money Friend
Just another Indian trying to do right by his family
